Arseny Morozov Mansion built in the style of eclectics is inspired by the famous Pena National Palace in the Portuguese town of Sintra not far away from Lisbon. Arseny who was a relative of the well-known patron Savva Morozov, asked his friend Victor Mazyrin with whom he had been traveling around Spain and Portugal, to build the house in neo-Moorish style. As a result, Moscow got a building which was thought to be foolish and clumsy because it had different types of decoration on it, too eclectic to handle, for some people’s taste. Its charm gained attention only at the beginning of the 21st century.
