Novgorod Kremlin was built in 1044 by order of Prince Jaroslav the Wise and was the first capital of ancient Rus. It was the place where people gathered town meetings, kept chronicles, and collected books. Today it is one of the oldest Kremlins that remained in Russia and tourists love it for the beautiful views on the Volkhov River. After Kremlin was restored and some modern buildings were added, it does not resemble ancient times, but the mixture of old and new times still looks magnificent and keeps Rus's rich history.
